I am so sorry to see that Etta has passed. She was so sweet and an excellent cook. My brother, Fran, and I always called her and George, Aunt Etta and Uncle Poker. We saw a lot of you and the girls when we were young. We are so very sorry for your loss. ❤

George, Tracy, Jo and all the rest of your family,
Our deepest sympathy for your loss. I met Etta quite a few years ago working at the BG school lunch program. She made the work a pleasure and lots of fun too! I will always remember her warmth and kindness to all. And her love for family was so very evident.

From the moment we moved in next door, at 5 years old, I gained another mom and another home. I spent as much time with my second family as I did my first one. I will always cherish the memories of such a warm caring second mom, always welcoming and willing to listen and laugh with us. A remarkable mom and remarkable family. Rest well Etta.

George, Tracy, Hoj and family-my heart is aching with you all. So many wonderful memories of sleepovers, color guard and band trips, and "Mom" always being there. When she found out my nickname was Crin-that is what she always called me. Even after getting married and we would meet up somewhere, I was still always "Crin" to her. We were all blessed that she looked out after all of us, bringing drinks and food after a long parade, or hanging onto something. When the Laing Family started putting on bluegrass shows, George and Etta were always there, proudly telling us about all their grandchildren. Thank you, to all of you for sharing such a kind, loving spirit with all of us in our little community. We are all richer for having known her. Please know many are sharing in this loss with you. Sending love and hugs to you all.

Oh, Etta's pies. Along with many band trips and fruit picking memories, I couldn't guess how many times George and Etta would invite us to stop over after a ball game. Dad would always say "just for a minute" or "we're just going to get some apples out of the cellar". Then Etta would say "Charlie, I got pie!!". Pretty sure it was always followed with a response something like "Well, I always got time for pie!" Such a wonderful loving lady!! I haven't seen her in several years, but I have no doubt she stayed true to her ways. Giving. Selfless. Wise. Hugs and prayers for peace to George, Tracy, Hoj, and families. Love you all!
