Obituary of Phyllis M. Moss

On December 19, 2021 Phyllis Marjorie Moss, age 94. passed from this earth into the arms of her Lord. Phyllis was born October 23,1927 in Unadilla, NY, the daughter of Laurence and Luella Boyd. She was sister to Louise Shaver, Donald (Don) Boyd, Edith (Dede) Phelps, Ernestine (Teenie) Kilpatrick, Laura Kishbaugh, Theron Boyd, Alice Kishbaugh, and William (Bill) Boyd. Phyllis married Charles John Moss on May 11, 1947 and they lived primarily in the Cortland, NY area where they raised their 4 children, Nancy Moss, Judith (Judy) Marshall, Cathy (Kate) Shaffer, and Charles Russell (Chuck) Moss. Nancy passed away January 31, 2017. She is survived by her sister Teenie, brothers Don and Bill (Gail), three children Judy (Dave), Kate (Ed) and Chuck (Rebeca), 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Phyllis and Charlie moved to the Sidney area in 1987 to care for her mother and subsequently purchased a home in Bainbridge. Charlie passed away December 29, 1998 and Phyllis continued to live in their home until March 2019 when she went to live with her son and his family in Cortland. She passed away at their home. Active in church, Phyllis was a devoted Christian and studied, practiced, and shared her faith. She and Charlie were active in the Grange and made friends easily. Family was most important to Phyllis and Charlie. She will be missed, but know she is now safe and well in God's hands. Services will be conducted at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main Street, Sidney, NY on January 3, 2022 with Visitation at 11:00 am and Funeral Service at 12:00 Noon. Burial immediately following at GreenLawn Cemetery, Bainbridge (weather permitting). Lois Hilkert will conduct the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Cortland County Area Agency on Aging, 60 Central Avenue, Cortland, NY 13045 or your local Meals on Wheels program.
