Obituary of William R. Copeland

William (Bill) Robert Copeland IV passed away unexpectedly on Saturday August 14th, 2021 at Wilson Memorial Hospital. Bill was born February 12th 1974 in Cooperstown, NY to William R Copeland Jr and Dona M. Dibble. He went to Sidney Central School until his Senior year (1992) and then transferred to Walton and graduated with the Class of 1993. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America throughout school then became a leader with many different roles to his son James' pack (36). After graduation he went on to serve our Country in the U.S. Army where he received Honorable Status. He was a member of the Sidney Center & Walton Fire Depts for many years where he served as a Captain and took many different courses. He loved going on Camporees and being in the great outdoors. He enjoyed playing poker and games with his children and family and many friends. He was also a diehard fan and member of the Buffalo Bills Mafia and enjoyed Nascar races and watching his children play in all of their sports. He had a huge love for eagles and loved spending time with his family and friends. Bill will be missed by his wife and mother to his six children Marilyn A. (Miller) Copeland of Walton. His six amazing children James (Meghan), Allison, Tonia, Dustin, Garrett and Ethan Copeland all of Walton. His beautiful granddaughter Audrey Dawn Copeland. His mother Dona M. (Dale) Hoyt of Sidney and his siblings William R. O'Gorman (Giovanna), Robert (Brenda) O'Gorman, Dina (Steve) Evans, Dean (Maria) O'Gorman, Rhealeen Copeland, John (Lisa) Copeland, Angelica Barkman, Danielle Hoyt, Darcy (Craig) Matthews, Jeremie Hoyt & Partner and Barry Hoyt and his god-son Aron Burr, along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews & cousins. He was predeceased by his father William R. Copeland Jr Graveside services will be held Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 10:00am in Walton Cemetery
