William George Latus 88 of 2 Maple Ave. in Sidney passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2009 after a fall at his home.
Bill was born in Sauquoit, NY on August 28, 1920 the son of William Joseph Latus and Margaret Mary Warburton. He is predeceased by his brother Gerald J. and Sister Celestine and nephew Gerald J. Jr.
He is survived by his niece Diane "Fuzzy" Latus Kozwich of Nottingham, NH and
His companion of 43 years, Trudy Baker of Sidney
Bill was a longtime resident of Sidney. He worked for the Bendix Corp. for 43 years as a supervisor. Bill served his country with distinction in the United States Navy during WWII in the South Pacific and China.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of the Sidney Elks Lodge, the V.F.W. in Sidney and Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Friends may call Monday, March 16, 2009 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel 21 Main St. Sidney. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church Liberty St. Sidney. Msgr. James Cox will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Sidney.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the charity of ones choice.
