Don and I were sad to learn of Ginny's passing. We kept in touch sporadically over the years. We have known Ginny since the Welcome Inn days on Rt 7 in Bainbridge in the late 1950's early 1960's. She used to drive us places in her Ford Fairlane before Don was old enough to drive. We enjoyed many a holiday at the Welcome Inn with Ginny as part of the extended family. Ginny and Sally took the time to drive to Rhinebeck to visit Ceil Parsons (or mother as she was know to all) when Ceil was confined there in the Ferncliff Nursing Home.

I am so sorry to learn of the loss of one of my favorite classmates and Sidney Center friends. She was named Virginia after my aunt as her father and my step-grandfather worked together in Walton and became very good friends. Ginny was our class secretary in high school and instrumental in keeping in contact with classmates and organizing annual get-togethers and reunions. I now am so thankful that I was able to get to our Mighty Class of '53 for our 65th reunion and sat beside her. She will be greatly missed by classmates and many, many others. She was such a friendly, smiling and fun to be with person. She and I were rivals in our business classes.

I'm sorry to hear of Ginny's passing, she worked with my mom in that tiny backroom office at Hotaling's Sales and Service on Cartwright Ave. in Sidney. I was 4 or 5 when I first "did errands for 'Aunt Ginny' in that office. I never knew that Grace was her niece, Grace and I sat together many times at the lunch table at BG from the very first time we met in the cafeteria in the 1st day of 7th grade. I would run into Ginny when voting in West Oneonta and she always greeted me and asked about my family. The last time I saw her at the Plains, she didn't know me, but her smile was still there. Rest in Peace Dear Lady, you had a great life, Merrie Cyhanick Pierce.

Ginny was one of the first longtime alumnae to grasp the idea of the Sidney Alumni Association (SCSAA) in the late 90s. Her efforts were, like her class of 1953, “mighty”.
She was a joy to be around. I loved listening to stories of yesteryear. Ginny will be missed. Rest In Peace, lovely lady.
