Obituary of Lloyd W. Jones

Lloyd "Skeeter" Jones Sidney, NY Lloyd "Skeeter" Jones 65 of Sidney passed away suddenly Sunday, July 25, 2010 at the Tri-town Regional Hospital in Sidney. He was born January 13, 1945, son of the late Lloyd and Shirley (Snyder) Jones in Cortland. Skeeter graduated from Sidney Central School with the Class of 1963. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1965. He was a trained radio operator and was stationed in Germany. He re-enlisted in 1975 and was honorable discharged in 1979 at the rank of Sergeant. After the military Skeeter was employed by the Amphenol Corp. in Sidney, he retired in 2008 after 28 years. In 1994 he graduated from B.C.C. with his associates' degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, after which He worked at the Holiday Inn in Oneonta and the Super 8 in Sidney. He was a member of the Sidney Elks Lodge, the Sidney American Legion and the Sidney V.F.W. Skeeter was an avid bowler for many years and in his retirement enjoyed on-line poker, eating spaghetti and attending meetings with the "board of directors" at the Sidney Country Store He is survived by Sister and brother-in-law - Sharon and Raymond Beames, South New Berlin 2 Nephews - Scott Fisher, Sidney Chris Oralls, Gilbertsville Great Niece - Ashley Wilber, Otego Uncles - Jack Snyder, Oneonta William Snyder, New Hampshire Richard Snyder, Memphis, TN Gene Jones, Cortland Nieces and nephews Friends may call Thursday, July 29, 2010 from 6-8 PM at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel 21 Main St. Sidney. Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 30, 2010 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Fred Albrecht officiating.
