She is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Burnett 'George' Pendorf, a daughter, Kimberly (Charles) Young, a step-daughter, Pamela (Randy) Thomas, and a step-son, Jeffrey (Michelle) Pendorf. She also is survived by 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Ronita Holbert, and several nieces and nephews. Janet was predeceased by her brother Bruce, and her brother Arthur and his wife, Elizabeth.
Janet was born on October 20th, 1937 in Oxford, NY to Rupert and Margaret Castor (Conklin). She graduated from Mt. Upton Central School in 1955. She had many fond memories of growing up on Shumway Hill in Mt. Upton.
Janet worked for various places, including Bendix, Victory Markets, and as a dental assistant for Peter Gregory, DDS. However, she is best remembered for owning and operating the Wells Bridge Sport Shop during the 70's and early 80's until she closed the business to become a full-time caregiver for her then husband.
Janet was active in the community and spent many years volunteering. Janet was an active member of the Sidney Fire Department Auxiliary, the Elks Club, and she worked at the Election Center each year. Janet was a supporter of the Alzheimer's Association as the cause was near and dear to her heart. Janet was also an animal lover and supported the SPCA.
Janet loved to camp, travel, dance, and garden. She loved her grandchildren and spent many hours baking, crafting, spending time outdoors and attending special events with them. Janet loved entertaining and will be remembered for her annual Christmas Eve Party, Prime Rib Dinners and various other events that she and George hosted throughout the years. Janet will always be remembered for her amazing brownies, sense of style, sense of humor, and her thoughtfulness.
Janet provided care to many family and friends over her lifetime. Janet's family would like to thank those who extended the same love and compassion to her during her time of need and remembered that she was still the same person they loved even when she was unable to do so herself.
Thank you to those at Chestnut Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center who watched over Janet and became like family to her.
There will be no funeral services per Janet's wishes. There will be a celebration of Janet's life in October, the date yet to be determined. In lieu of flowers, please support the Delaware Valley Humane Society
