Condolences to the family on Gil's passing. I knew him as Carole's husband and a staunch supporter of her participation in the Tri-Town Business and Professional Women. Gil helped us for many years with our AMBA blood screening clinic scholarship fundraiser - long after Carole passed. He was a great man.

We're so sorry to hear of Gil's passing. He was a special soul, always happy and full of love. I first met Gil at my wedding, attending for my groom. Even though we had just met he welcomed me with open arms like we were old friends. I will dearly miss his Christmas cards with a yearly update that surely put mine to shame. ♥️

Gil was always a good friend to us and many others in our circle of friends in Carthage. Since he left our community, we have kept in contact with letters in our Christmas cards. This year a letter did not come from Gil but from his daughter, Lynn. She brought us up to date with his health and where he was living. We are so sorry to read of Gil's passing and pray he didn't suffer.

Don & Lynn: My deepest condolences to both of you. Your dad provided me with innumerable rides to Snow Ridge when I was in Jr. & Sr. High school and I was a scout in his troop (54 if I recall correctly). I also had the benefit of having him as my Guidance Counselor. The world has lost a very thoughtful and considerate man. May he rest in peace. Lou Flanigan

Dear Malerk Family,
I had the pleasure of getting to know Gil over the last year while visiting my friend Rita Wellman, who was home bound and whose obituary was in the paper just yesterday. Gil would often stop by Rita's apartment, bringing her cheese and crackers and to chat on a Thursday afternoon. He was so kind and gentle and sweet and I so enjoyed his stories about his time in the service and his experiences with the Oneida community. I feel lucky to have known him for a little while!

To my dear friend, Lynne:
I am so sorry to hear of your dad’s passing. I remember your dad so often coming to see you in your office at work. His gentle demeanor and kind ways will be fond memories for me. I am disappointed I am not there to console you during this sad time. I wish you, Mike, the boys, their families and your brother’s family much strength and peace in the coming months.

I can distinctly recall my first several encounters with Gil. He personally brought PSA notices to WCDO each time the German Club (he helped keep going) was to meet. That began a quick friendship that lasted 30 years. Gil was someone who lived to teach and help others, enjoying every minute. We should all be so fortunate.
Sincere condolences to the family near and far. Gil’s life was well-lived.
