Gerry was kind and thoughtful, a good man and well regarded. I’m sorry for your loss.

Dear Bonnie and all the members of Jerry's loving family. Please accept our sincere and heartfelt condolences. Jerry was SPECIAL and he will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. I have a lot of fond memories of Jerry during our time together in Building 58 at the Naval Gun Factory, Washington, DC. We had a wonderful club (slopchute) in Building 58 and Jerry often served as a "bar tender" in our club. Ah, the memories! When time permits, please visit our exceptional website, www.8thandi.com; many wonderful memories are preserved on that site. Rest in peace, Jerry! Well done, Marine! God Bless the Curtis family! .... John T. & Mary Lou Reim, 8th & I Marine, Ceremonial Guard Company, Silent Drill Platoon, 1958-1961, Franklinville, NJ "Semper Fi"

I only knew Mr. Curtis through Jill, Jim & Juli while working at the pool. He appeared very distinguished to me & now I know why. I was not aware that he was a fellow Marine and served with such distinction at 8th & I in D.C. Plus being involved with the Cuban Missile crisis. My thoughts and prayers go out to his entire family. Semper Fidelis Marine! You are now guarding the streets of heaven as our Marine Corps Hymn refers to.

Bonnie and family, my sincere condolences for your loss. Gerry was such a great
guy: friendly, smart, very courteous and so sincere. I always remember Gerry walking around, looking serious, with a destination 'somewhere else.' He never
stood around, he never looked confused, he was always in total control of his world. I am sure you have thousands of wonderful family memories of Gerry, and I hope you keep them in the front of your minds as the days unfold.

Bonnie, Jill, Jim, Juli and family,
I was so saddened to hear of Jerry’s passing. I enjoyed interacting with him at the many family gatherings over the years. I especially appreciated his “dry” sense of humor. He was always there to lend a helping hand in any way that he could. I remember him as a hard worker and a dedicated family man who truly loved his family very much. Especially his grandchildren and great granddaughter! Cherish the memories and know he is watching over you now and always.
Sincerely,
Teri (Brazee) Harris & family

There are countless tributes already, and all are well deserved by your beloved Jerry. Not sure what unique perspective I can offer...
There are those who talk less and still garner respect from those around them. Jerry was one of the few I can label as such. At first it was intimidating. Over time, I knew his heart and humor were just under the surface. The more you knew him, the more you knew that part of him would come out.
Always a Hall of Farmer in my book. Rest easy Jerry, yours was a life well-lived.

I have many, many memories of my wonderful grandfather. To pick one thats in my head this moment as I write this, one of our favorite things to do together was go to the shooting range. Since I was young, I’d call him knowing I was going to be in sidney in just a few days and I’d ask if he wanted to “go shoot your guns.” Of course he’d say yes to me as long as there was clear weather. I wouldn’t be able to sleep out of pure excitement, and anticipation, it was like trying to sleep on Christmas eve every time. The day would come and we’d but up at the crack of dawn and we’d both be up and ready to go! I learned so much on safety/techniques, but also talked about life with him, and also learned just how interesting of a man my grandfather is. He will forever be in my memories, as my hundreds of him flurry through my mind everyday. Love you grandpa jerry SEMPER FI

Aunt Bonnie, Jill, Jimmy, Juli and families,
My heart is breaking for you over the loss of Uncle Jerry. I will forever remember what mom referred to him as all of her life, as - her “baby brother”. He was so kind to our family and how we enjoyed family visits! Proud of his Marine days, he never lost the military bearing and appearance that Marines aspire to uphold. Heaven gained an angel. May you find comfort and peace in the days ahead, knowing that he is God’s loving hands.

My most sincere condolences to Bonnie and the family. I have known Jerry since Junior high School. He was always the picture of a gentleman, a great athlete, a genuine good person. It was heartwarming to see him marry his high school sweetheart and remain married for 59 years. Jerry and Bonnie had a wonderful family and did much for the community where they grew up and lived. They did a wonderful job setting an example for others not just with how they lived and raised their family but to others to give of themselves to the community. Jerry will be missed dearly but his family will carry on with the grace, love and pride that Jerry helped set the bar for.
