Mary Louise Bickos
Sidney-Mary Lou (Wessels) Bickos, 80, went peacefully with the Lord surrounded by her family at her home on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 after a courageous battle with Parkinson's.
She was born to Lawrence and Mary Wessels in Oxford, New York.
Mary Lou was dedicated to her family and her community. She was employed for several years at Scintilla in Sidney, leaving there to start her family. She was active with the Sidney Hospital Guild and Cancer Research Society. She was an avid bowler, never missing a Monday night game. She loved gardening, sewing, cooking and quilting, donating many of her quilts to charitable organizations.
She and John also loved to travel and took the opportunity to make a cross country trip. Her most precious love was her family, always opening her heart and home to them. She was greatly loved by her grandchildren and will be missed.
Mary Lou was predeceased by her brothers, Dick, Frank and Bob Wessels.
She is survived by brother Raymond and wife Maryann Wessels of Guilford and sister, Helen and Dick Dickson of Sidney as well as her loving and dedicated husband of 58 years, John.
She is also survived by her four children and their spouses, Micheal and Bridgette Bickos, Jakkie & Linda Bickos, Judy and Jay Dolgos and Jeanne and Guy St. Clair, her grandchildren, Brian, Stephen and Jessica (Page) Bickos, Donnette, Jason, Maureen and Kyle Bickos, Athena Dolgos and Brandi Bickos as well as several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel 21 Main St. Sidney on Saturday, April 10 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM at the funeral chapel. Internment will follow at the Prospect Hill Cemetery in Sidney. There will be a gathering form 2:30 to 4:00 to celebrate the life of Mary Lou at the Unadilla First Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall on Main Street in Unadilla.
The family of Mary Lou wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Pam McClenon for her dedicated and loving care she provided over the past year.
