Obituary of Anna Getter

Anna P. Getter Anna P. Getter, 91, passed away peacefully December 22, 2018 with her daughters by her side to walk her home. She was born August 20, 1927 to Millard and Edna (Brining) Porter. Anna (Anne) was a graduate of Sidney Central School and an inaugural member of the Lydia C. Metz Chapter of the National Honor Society. Anna married Laurence Getter, November 17, 1946. Together Larry and Anne purchased and ran the Bainbridge Bowl-O-Drome and were instrumental in establishing youth and the after school bowling program in the Tri-Town area. In 1999 Anne, "The Grand Lady of Bowling", was inducted into the Tri-County Bowling Hall of Fame as was Larry (posthumously) in 1990. Anne's (Nana) greatest joy in life was spending time with her daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters: Christine, Colleen and Laurene; grandchildren: Tricia, Bill, Christine, Matthew and Cory; great-grandchildren: Dillon, Cole, Tyler, Riley, Kayla, Trevor, Travis, Tucker and Gunnar. At the family's request, donations in Anne's name may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Chenango County. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of CH Landers Funeral Chapel, Sidney.
