Carroll Charles Ostrander left this life on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at his home in Rockdale, NY. He was born to Ruth (Kruger) and Walter Ostrander in the town of Unadilla. He was 89.
Father, grandfather, and loving husband, Pop was a man of the land with bright eyes and a mischievous smile. He worked over the years collecting milk and sap, trucking, dairy farming, machining, and driving bus. Each child and grandchild enjoyed time in his strong lap. His passion was for competitive horse-pulling, and he never missed a livestock auction at Chambers' in Unadilla. He loved horses, a mow full of hay, warm socks, his John Deere 620, his cat, and Phyllis's pie.
Carroll married Phyllis Corrine (Hyatt) Ostrander on May 1, 1949. Phyllis survives him along with six daughters: Barbara Funaro, Michele Hartwell, Jodie (Ron) Bennett-Edwards, Jill (Gerry) Palmer, Lorie Ostrander, and Nickie Christian. Also survived by grandchildren: Kecia Funaro, Shayne Hartwell, Eden Hartwell Barnes, Cerice Palmer Hoffman, Dane Palmer, Kory Bennett, Cole Bennett, Taylor Soroka, Joel Christian, Jay Christian, Shay Christian,. Great-grandchildren Emerson Burton, Cooper Burton, Lane Hartwell, Mikayla Hartwell, Dustyn Hartwell, Kayla Palmer, and Vanessa Bennett. He is also survived by a sister, Linda Pope.
He is predeceased by sons-in-law John Funaro, John Hartwell, and Terence Christian. Also predeceased by sisters Thelma Peck, Pauline Partridge, Louella Puffer; and brothers Howard Ostrander, Kenneth Ostrander, and Donald Ostrander.
Family will have a private gathering on his land to remember his life.
