Obituary of Ronald A. Edwards

Ronald A. Edwards 74, of Afton passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Wilson Hospital in Johnson City after fighting a long battle with multiple illnesses.

He was born in Warwick, NY on September 13, 1944, to the late Harold and Estelle Edwards.

Ron was also predeceased by sister, Barbara, son, Thomas Wayne Edwards and infant daughter, Barbara DeAnn Edwards.

He is survived by his wife and best friend of 42 years, Norine (Wayman) Edwards, Afton

2 daughters, Holly Holbrook and Ray Osterhout, Susquehanna, PA

Heidi and Carl Conklin, Gilbertsville

Honorary son – Bill Shager, Johnson City

5 Grandchildren – Melinda Holbrook, Torin and Tommy Osterhout of Susquehanna, PA; Gary and Jessica Conklin of Gilbertsville.

Ron moved to Mt. Upton at the age of 8 working his uncle's farm and attending Mt. Upton Schools.

He served his country in the United States Air Force for 8 years. Ron loved to farm and was known for his mulch and hay cutting all over NY and parts of PA.

Ron was employed by Norboard in Deposit as a heavy equipment operator for 26 years. Later in 2011 he went to work as a security guard for US Security Associates until present.

Ron was an avid talker of sports and politics. He loved all animals whom he enjoyed feeding and his 10 rescued cats who loved him dearly and he them.

Graveside services with military honors will he held Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at 11:00 AM in Maplewood Cemetery in Mt. Upton.
