Obituary of Theresa V. Pickens

Theresa Virginia Pickens, 89, passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2018. She was born on April 12, 1929, daughter of the late John and Josephine (McGuigan) Minnick in Newburgh, NY.

Theresa's strength and her core values included faith, family and education. She was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Church in Sidney and in Newburgh. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother; raising her family was her life. Though she came from humble beginnings herself, it was important to Theresa that all her children went on to graduate from college, of which she was incredibly proud.

Theresa enjoyed visiting and traveling with her family to fun places. She loved to walk, and distance was never an issue. She also enjoyed animals, especially her cherished collie "Frank". A humble and classy lady, she was the backbone of her family, the one who held everyone and everything together.

Theresa will be dearly missed by: her four children: Grace (Fred) Mohrien of Nineveh, Teresa(Bill) Wolfinger of Delhi, Donna (Bill) Roselli of Wellington, FL and Don (Deirdre) Pickens of Dedham, MA; grandchildren: Kelli (Dave) Mohrien Parsons, Rick (Kari) Mohrien, Kerry (Hailey) Mohrien, Casey Mohrien, Corey Mohrien, Josh (Lena) Wolfinger, Amber (Mike) Kerwin, Joey (Trillian) Roselli, Kevin Roselli, Scott (Cynthia) Roselli, Danny Roselli, Rory Pickens, Allison Pickens and Stephanie Pickens; and 10 great-grandchildren with 2 more anticipated in December. She is also survived by a sister, Agnes Casey of Newburgh and two nephews.

In addition to her parents, Theresa was predeceased by her brother, John Minnick and her sister, Marie Minnick.

Friends are invited to call from 6:00-8:00pm on Monday, July 9, 2018 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Tuesday, July 10th at Sacred Heart Church, 15 Liberty St. Sidney. Burial will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Sidney. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Theresa's memory may be directed to Sacred Heart Church or Right To Life.
