Bryce M. Fisher, 91, longtime resident of Afton, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 25, 2018 at Elizabeth Church Manor in Binghamton. Bryce was born on October 23, 1926 in Afton, NY. He graduated from Afton High School and enlisted in the US Army Air Force. He proudly served his country during World War II until his honorable discharge in January 1947.
On May 14, 1955, he was married to Helen Burgess; they shared 63 happy years together.
Bryce apprenticed under his Uncle Francis as well as Ken Howe, and in 1956, began his own business, Bryce M. Fisher General Contracting. He was a gifted carpenter and builder, and had a hand in building many homes in Afton throughout his career.
He was a former member of the Afton American Legion and the Afton United Methodist Church.
Bryce is survived by: his wife, Helen B. Fisher; four children: Mitchell Fisher of Downington, PA, Wendy Fisher of Oneonta, Ronald and Doreen Fisher of East Patchogue, NY and Karen Fisher and Dave Wasilewski of Hunlock Creek, PA; grandchildren: Brandon (Rosemary), Amanda (Adam), Carl, Michael, Aaron, Katherine and Christina; great-granddaughter, Adelaide Fisher; sister, Shirley Davy of Oxford, and several nieces and nephews.
Bryce was predeceased by his granddaughter, Anna.
Friends may call from 1:00-3:00pm on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. Funeral services and military honors will begin at 3:00pm at the funeral chapel. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery, Afton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Afton Emergency Squad, 15 Spring St. Afton, NY 13730.
