I remember as a child, the times that Uncle Steve, Aunt Erma and their daughters would travel to Pennsylvania to visit. It was one of the highlights of the summer for me. All of us would have days of fun which included Uncle Steve taking us to Alwine's Dairy for ice cream. I don't know how old I was, but one memory really stands out. Uncle Steve and I where at my parent's kitchen table and there were coffee cups, saucers and other various things setting around. In just a mere minute or so, Uncle Steve sketched the whole scene on a piece of paper. I was so amazed. He explained how he could break down objects into individual shapes. As he explained, he drew it all again. This time slower, so that I could follow what he was doing. That had to be more than 50 years ago and it still seems as though it was yesterday. What a great moment spent with a very talented man. My deepest sympathy to his family during this difficult time. All are in my thoughts and prayers.

My Grandpa Steve Punako really cared for a lot of people! He found ways to help people have a nice time!Whether it was going out for dinner,or a picnic or ice cream.I will be one of the ones who will miss him.I will remember the lessons and advice he gave to me.One of the last things he told me was to be nice to my boy Thomas because my dad was nice to me.He just noticed that I was getting a little irritated at the time, but I was thankful he pointed it out.To everyone,if you go on a walk somewhere and you are thinking of him he is probably walking with you.

As a young adult, it was clear that Grandpa Steve was a believer in tradition. As an older adult I know why. We have one life, one purpose and tradition was the glue to happiness, strength and hope. I hope that all who know Steve are blessed with all of life’s joys. With all the love in the world, we love you Grandpa.
