Obituary of Beverly June Hammond

Beverly June Hammond Bainbridge, NY Beverly June Hammond, 67 of Bainbridge, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday evening, March 17, 2010 at her home. Beverly has courageously battled breast cancer for 11 years. Beverly was born May 3, 1942 in Smithville, daughter of the late Gerald and Madeline (Horton) Hawkins. Bev opened and operated The Village Coffee Shop in Sidney from 1976 to 1990. She was so full of life and loved what she did. All of her customers were her extended family. Beverly is survived by the love of her life, James Hammond. They were married on June 14, 1958 and again on June 14, 1988. Bev was a loving mother and is survived by her children: Diana Hammond of Bainbridge, Roger and Shirley Butler of Guilford, Tambra and Bruce Brownell of Bainbridge, Kimberly Denny and Dan DeMarco of Tonawanda, NY and Kevin Butler of Sidney, as well as her stepchildren: Scott Hammond of Coventry and Sheila and George Lewis of Binghamton. Bev will also be missed by Howard W. and Deb Butler of Guilford and David Denny of Center Village, NY. Beverly was also a special sister and is survived by her siblings, Milton and Candace Hawkins of Binghamton, Winifred and Robert Layton of Colesville, Bernard and Carol Hawkins of Great Bend, PA, William and Cheryl Hawkins of Conklin and David and Gloria Hawkins of Buffalo Valley, TN. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildrren, as well as several nieces and nephews. Bev was predeceased by her daughter, Patricia Ann Hammond, and her siblings Howard, Evelyn, Lillian, Rose and Ernest Hawkins. Friends are invited to call from 5:00-7:00pm on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, March 21st at the funeral chapel with Rev. Harold Lefler officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Bainbridge.
