Obituary of John F. Nelsen

John F. Nelsen John F. Nelsen, 94, longtime resident of Valley Cottage, passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2018. John was born on May 12, 1923 in Port Chester, son of Albert and Anna (Markey) Nelsen. He served his country in the US Navy from 1944-1946 and worked for Lederle Labs in Pearl River for 42 years, retiring as a supervisor in 1985. On November 21, 1943, he was married to Loretta Locke in Nyack, NY. She predeceased him in 2008. John was also predeceased by his parents; his son, John; brothers, Albert, Rodney and Thomas, and sister, Jean. He is survived by: his son, Glenn Nelsen, and his wife, Kate; two grandchildren: John Nelsen and his wife, Dawn and Carrie Gravelin and her husband, Warren; six great-grandchildren: Darren, Damian and Jeremiah Burrows, Tallan Nelsen and Kira and Maranda Rickard, as well as many nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, April 18th at 11:00am in Gethsemane Cemetery, Rockland Lake.
