Obituary of Helen Patricia Rose Elliott

Helen Patricia Elliott Sidney, NY Helen Patricia Rose Elliott of Sidney passed away surrounded by her family Friday, March 5, 2010 at A.O. Fox Hospital in Oneonta. Known as Pat by family and friends, she was born August 20, 1935 in Cheadle, Cheshire England to the late Sydney and Rose Margaret (Hamby) Smith. While growing up in England during WWII her family hosted several children that had been relocated during air raids. Pat was also an avid horsewoman. She later married Bruce Elliott and together led an adventurous life. In 1967 they left England and moved to Sidney, NY to raise a family. They returned to England many times over the years and also traveled to Australia, New Zealand, Egypt and Hawaii. Pat instilled in her family a sense of community service by her involvement in Special Olympics, the Sidney Hospital Guild, Boy and Girl Scouts, the Sidney Gardening Club and the East Guilford Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed the outdoors by camping, biking and skiing. Pat also loved to knit, sew, cook and bake. For over 21 years Pat was a teaching assistant for the Special Education program at the Sidney Central Schools. She is survived by her loving Husband of 50 years, Bruce Elliott of Sidney Her Children, Lesley (Mark) Allen, Westerly, RI Lucie (Daniel) Parisi, Ellington, CT and Neil (Wendy) Elliott, Afton. Her beloved grandchildren - Phillip, Lindsey and Thomas Allen, Bethany, Dominick and Andrew Parisi, Gerald and Angeline Elliott, and step-grandchildren Amanda and Mickol Masko and Shannon Grane. Step-mother - Vera Smith Sister- Margaret Donaldson Sister - Susan (Peter) Sharp Brother - John (Marion) Smith And many nieces and nephews in England Brother-in-law from Canada - Iain (Olwen) Elliott and their family. Pat is also predeceased by, her twin sister Doreen Smith and Brother-in-law Peter Donaldson A memorial service will be held Friday, March 12, 2010 at the East Guilford Presbyterian Church at 2:00 PM Rev. Patricia Wolff will officiate.
