To the Matthew's family, please know how heavy my heart is hearing of your Mom's passing. Our families have some wonderful memories to cherish. I was a classmate of cheerleader Betty and basketball and baseball teammate of Larry and observed their romance in high school. I discovered that Larry was my distant cousin several years ago. At the same time I discovered we were also cousins to Thomas A. Edison and the wife of President of James Monroe. They were descendants of a prominent Dutch family of New York City. Amasa Mathews my 4th gr grandfather a Revolutionary War veteran and friend of George Washington was married to Rebecca van Kortryk. These two are buried in Hector, NY where they settled in 1795 with their family. My 3rd gr grandfather Richard Farr married their oldest daughter Susan. Unfortunately I never saw Betty or Larry after high school. Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss.

To the family of Elizabeth Matthews. I am remembering with you the life of someone so dear. I have such fond memories of Elizabeth. Our rides, walk in the parks, our chats at the lunch counter.and the Bible readings were very special. There is a special place in my heart that will not allow me to forget "Betty".
