This family was deeply sorrowed to hear of Dick's passing. Engla, Rick, and Bob will feel it very personally. Engla always enjoyed the humor in the phone messages he would leave. Rick and Bob will greatly miss having Dick to play golf with, his relaxed manner and comical approach to the game made it much fun. In addition, coming to know and feel as he does about Dick, Bob tends to accept Dick's departure such as that of losing a brother.
Ethel and Family, you are in our thoughts with sincere sympathy.

My deepest sympathy and condolences to Ethel and family.
I first met Dick in 3rd grade at SC School and we were classmates thru the 9th Grade with many fond memories. I have played a lot of enjoyable Golf with Dick over the years. We also worked together at the Afton Golf Club and enjoyed the daily get together coffee group.
Dick was a true and loyal friend and was fun to be around and will be sorely missed by me and others.

A few months ago I was at State line auto auction in Waverly, New York and I placed my phone and belongings down at a bleecher inside amongst the lanes and happened to look up to see this man that I knew, I know this man....sure enough I remember my college roommate's husband saying that his Dad went to this auction...and I was like Mr. Curley?! And from there we just connected. We wanted to buy each other lunches and he made my day. I couldn't wait to reach out to Carol and Ed as either could he as he called them when they were down at a wedding in Key West. I truly believe things happen for a reason and I believe it was for me and my college roommate to reunite. I looked forward to seeing him at the following auctions. He had recently said to me, "why are you so nice to me?" and I was like you and your smile make my day! The last time I saw him, they were leaving early and I ran out to say hello with that last smile and hug never realizing that would be it. So thankful to have been there at the right time and right place. Love and prayers to the entire family XO

Thank you Dickie for being a part of my life. You always brought a smile to my face, told me the only joke I could remember, welcomed me to your Thanksgiving table, told me great stories from your high school days and always asked about my kids.
I always loved sitting with you watching my son's basketball games and I always told Ed how lucky he was to have a father as awesome as you.
Your family was lucky to have you. You are one of a kind and I will miss you.

I was very sorry to learn of Dick's death. I have not seen him in many years but remember him very well when we all lived on Pineview Terrace in Sidney. I remember when he went into the Navy and my brother and I saw him in his uniform. That was really special for us. I have told Ed that his dad was a legend in the neighborhood and was a good example for all of us to look up to. Rest in peace Dick.
