Alma E. Holowacz, Unadilla
Alma E. Holowacz, 93, of Unadilla, passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at her home.
She was born February 12, 1924, daughter of the late Elias and Mabel (Odell) Leib in Milford, NY.
Alma served her country in the United States Army during World War II. She married Phillip (Andy) Holowacz on September 19, 1948. He predeceased her on October 25, 2011.
Alma was employed by E.C.D of Bendix/Scintilla in Sidney when she retired in 1984. She and Andy owned and operated Holowacz Tavern (Warsaw Hilton) in Sidney Center for 10 years.
Her passion was her vegetable garden.
Alma was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Sidney and the Sidney American Legion Post #183.
Alma was also a steadfast supporter of the Sidney BPOE #2175 since 1960. Andy was a charter member and together they worked and spent countless hours dedicated to the Elks.
She is survived by:

Daughter, Paula Holowacz Decker and her husband, John Unadilla
Grandchildren – Melissa and Justin Rowe, Norwich; Kimberly and Eric Sifuentes, Pulaski,;Stephanie and Robb Munro, Delhi; and Katarina and Chris Campoli, Denver, CO
Great Grandchildren – Cameron, Zelda, Tabitha, Liam and Finley
Sister, Phyllis Brownell, South New Berlin
Sister-in-law – Marianna Leib, Oneonta
Several nieces, nephews and cousins
Alma was also predeceased by infant daughter, Kathryn, 5 sisters and 2 brothers
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Sacred Heart Church, 15 Liberty St., Sidney with Fr. Bernard Osei Ampong officiating.
Military honors will follow at the Sidney Elks Lodge 104 River St. Sidney.
