Many prayers to your family. I took care of Mrs. Van Siclen many times while she was a patient in the GI lab at Mayo Clinic. She was an incredible lady. I would always seek her out when I saw her on the schedule, even though I wasn't gonna be with her that day. I made sure the one that did KNEW how we specialized her care! Despite all her issues in the last several months with swallowing and issues with pain, she always tried to smile. She always knew we wanted to hug her, pat her arm etc but even the smallest gestures caused her pain. We all had a system that we followed when she arrived. No blood pressures while she was awake, only a certain RN was to start her IV etc,,,, She was one of my favorites and one I will never forget. God bless your family.
