To the extended family of Joe Norton, a heartfelt set of condolences from me and my wife. It was years ago that Joe served us well as a mechanic. I remember when his grandson Randy was playing basketball for me as a sophomore in high school and how Joe would try to get to some of the games IF he could get off of work a bit early. Warm wishes to all of the family..................

Saw this online and was shocked to have lost Joe in a car accident. Such a sweet man, we always loved coming "home" to Sidney to see you guys. Joe always had a smile and a hug and kiss to share. We enjoyed our dinners at Roma's, and hearing Joe's stories. Nancy, I am so grateful that you have the support of your family to help you through this sorrowful time. I was so sorry to hear of Joe's passing. He is a revered figure from my childhood and was an admired friend of my Dad, Edward Meehan's. They solved the problems of the world as Joe would work on his cars and my Dad would visit. We often went to the stock car races to see Joe race and once he took me for a lap around the track, a great thrill for a kid. He was a special character and will be greatly missed by many. Please accept sincerest condolences from me and my Mom, Pearl Meehan.

I was saddened to hear of the passing of Joe....I can remember going to his gas station with Dad since I was a young kid..In my head he was almost a part of our extended family...Several times I saw Joe in Nancy;s Trackside Diner and he always recognized me and we hugged and talked and he would always ask me to stop by his house and visit, but sadly that never happened..Joe was a glowing light still burning as a symbol of the Old Sidney so many of us remember....My Dad and he were good friends going way back..I shall miss this man and his passing is kind of an end of an era for so many have passed and the new Sidney has taken over...May this wonderful and loved man rest in peace and stay in our souls until we all meet again in God's great Kingdom....Luv ya' Joe.....

Joe was an old school mechanic and race car driver. I recall him complaining that computers/sensors in cars would force him out.
I interviewed Joe for the Bowling Hall of Fame. He wasn't a great bowler but always sponsored teams. His acceptance speech took 10 seconds...he wasn't a public speaker but he was a public celebrity.
Condolences to all the family. He's once again driving top speed in the old 3x car. Rest In Peace.
