Obituary of Jean Mary Moran
Jean Mary (Davies) Moran, aged 85, passed away suddenly on July 16, 2017 at her residence at Brookdale East, in Niskayuna, NY. Jean was born August 12, 1931, in Oneonta, NY, the daughter of Robert and Selena Davies. Family and friends were Jean’s passion and delight. Although Jean was an only child, her beloved cousins became the brothers and sisters she did not have. Jean attended Oneonta High School, graduating in 1948. Upon graduation Jean entered the work place. She worked many years as an administrative assistant for Bendix/Scintilla.
On June 25, 1955, Jean married the love of her life, Arthur “Pat” Moran. Jean and Pat lived in Fort Monmouth, NJ, Afton, NY and eventually settled in Sidney, NY where they raised their five children; Mary, Timothy, Kathleen, Ellen, and Joseph.
Jean was a devoted and loving mother. She was an avid reader and truly enjoyed creating beautiful crafts for family and friends. Jean loved holidays and family get-togethers: any chance to spend time with her family was important to her. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sidney, NY for over 50 years. She was an active member of the Rosary Society. Jean enjoyed doing charity work both in Sidney and at her second home in Sunset Beach, NC.
Jean was predeceased by her loving husband in 1995; and her devoted son Timothy in 2002. She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her children: Mary (Ted) Tacea, Kathleen (Sony) Francis, Ellen (Robert) Bedell, Joseph (Susan) Moran, and Kathleen Moran (daughter-in-law) Jean also is survived by her adoring grandchildren: Sean, Michael and Kelsey Moran; William and Aidan Bedell. Numerous caring cousins also survive her.
Friends may call Thursday, July 20 from 4-7 PM at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel 21 Main St. Sidney. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, July 21, 2017 at Sacred Heart Church 15 Liberty St. Sidney.
