Erma M. Ward
Unadilla—Erma M. Ward, 98, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at A.O. Fox Hospital in Oneonta. She was born in Unadilla on July 16, 1918, daughter of the late Frank and Ruby (Nichols) McCumber.
On September 20, 1947, she was married to William E. Ward, Sr. in Hallstead, PA. He predeceased her in December 2003 after 56 years of marriage.
Erma worked as a desk clerk for Amphenol Corp. in Sidney until her retirement in 1978. She was a lifetime member of the Sidney Elks Lodge 2175 and the Order of the Eastern Star. Erma loved to travel, taking many trips to their family camp in Canada. She was an avid NY Mets fan and she enjoyed spending time with her friends and family.
She is survived by:
Grandchildren: Ronald Jeffery Ward, Louann Roberts, Gregory Ward and his wife, Jassely Rotolo, Karen Ward Smith and Douglas Ward; Great-Grandchildren: Brian, Jason, Amelia and Jack Curtis, Merton Ward and Crystal Meder; nephews: Timothy McCumber, Stan McCumber, Jr., and Steven McCumber; and sister-in-law, Inez McCumber, and her Jack Russell Terrier, Corky.
In addition to her parents, Frank and Ruby McCumber, and her beloved husband, William Ward, Sr., Erma was predeceased by: three brothers, Stan McCumber, Sr., Harlan McCumber and Wayne McCumber, and her step-sons, Ronald Ward and William Ward, Jr. and his wife, Antoinette Martha Ward.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, June 3, 2017 in Greenlawn Cemetery, Bainbridge. Condolences may be shared with her family online at www.landersfh.com.
Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, Sidney.
