Obituary of Eleanor Vaughn Sweeney

Eleanor Sweeney Afton—Eleanor Sweeney, 98, of Afton, passed on to her eternal life on Saturday, October 29, 2016. Eleanor was the daughter of Willis and Helene Vaughn, who were long time residents of Sidney, NY. For many years, Eleanor lived and worked in the New York City area, including Wood Haven. For the past ten years, she has lived at the Kelsey Manor Home for Adults in Afton, where she was loved and cared for by staff and residents. She is survived by a nephew, Patrick (Sandy) Vaughn of Sidney, NY; a grand-nephew, Jeremy Vaughn; a grand-niece, Chelsea Vaughn; a great grand-niece, Ruby; and two cousins, David (Joan) Brown of Orlando, FL and Nancy Sue (Ray) Burns of Sidney, NY. Eleanor was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Edward; two brothers, Richard Vaughn and Stanley Vaughn; and a nephew, Gary Vaughn. A private celebration of life service was held at the C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel in Sidney with the Rev. Thomas Pullyblank, pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Sidney, leading family and close friends in prayers, Bible readings and personal remembrances of Eleanor. Burial was in Paige Cemetery, Downsville, New York. Arrangements were handled by C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, Sidney.
