Obituary of Thomas R. Herring

Thomas R. Herring, 63, of Unadilla, NY passed away on August 27, 2016 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton, NY. Tom, who many knew as "Hoby," was born in Stamford, NY to Hobert and Helen Herring on December 9, 1952. He went to Unatego Jr./Sr. High School and graduated in 1970. He went on to earn a certificate in Toolmaking from the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. He was a toolmaker at several companies throughout his career, but spent many years working at Amphenol Corporation. He was an avid golfer and bowler, and also enjoyed hunting and spending time with family and friends. Tom is survived by his daughter Lacey Alex (formerly Herring) and daughter-in-law and grandson Katie and George Alex of Byfield, MA; son Chad Herring of San Angelo, TX; brother James Herring, his wife Linda Herring, and their children of Oneonta, NY; nieces Kelly and Heather MacPherson of Oneonta, NY and Unadilla NY, respectively, and their families; long- time companion Sheila Bell and her family of Unadilla, NY; and his former wife and mother of his children Susan Herring of Unadilla, NY. He was predeceased by his sister Christine MacPherson of Unadilla, NY. Friends may call Wednesday, August 31, 2016 from 5-8 PM at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel 21 Main St. Sidney. Graveside services will be held Thursday, September 1, 2016 at 11:00 AM in the Oneonta Plains Cemetery in Oneonta with Rev. Benjamin Shaw officiating.
