Rich,
Well last weekend was our first 2016 Big Game Hunting trip without you and I must say it was a rough one. The radios we speak on were very quiet, not hearing your voice did bring tears to my eyes when I was in my tree stand, but we all got thru it just like you would have wanted. Once again like the Bow trip we went into the woods blind with no idea on where the deer were. The weather was too nice on Saturday Opening Day 65 degrees and sunny, so needless to say, we did not see or shoot anything. However, we did luck out on Sunday when we woke up to 32 degrees and about 4 inches of snow, which made for a great hunting day.
I tried my best to fill the void of not having you around and acted as the spotter like you have done so many times in the past.I was able to let your Son Richie JR and Vinny who were in your tower that some Doe we heading there way, they both lucked out and each took a deer which made the hunt a little better. Also, let your brother Ronnie know of a Doe which was heading right towards him which he also bagged, that brought our total to 3 deer taken. I myself did see some Doe, but only shot them with my camera, believe me my ears were ringing, like so many times in the past I could hear you saying, Thomas shoot the deer with the gun not your camera. On a positive note, I was happy to say that your son Richie JR was sitting on the milk can when we showed up which I know would have made you very proud. This gave us all a great feeling knowing that he is taking over your reigns, rest assure we are and will continue to keep your Hunting Legacy going.
Keep-Them in the Ten Ring Brother,
Cousin Tom

Rich,
Well this past weekend was our first bow hunting trip without you and I must say it was a rough one. We went into the woods blind with no idea on where the deer were. Also, did not have your advice when building Marks tree stand, which we did complete and I think you would be proud of the way it turned out. I had to ask Richie Jr to check out my tree stand in the back of your property to make sure it is in good condition for me, must say you would be proud of him since he is doing his best to help out the guys with you not being there.
Back at the school house there was your empty seat at the dinner table and on top of it I had no one to share my Coke with, had to drink the entire can myself, everything about this just sucks. To be honest I’m not really looking forward to the upcoming Big Game trip in November. I’m sure it will be another tough trip not having you there sitting on the milk can when we show up in the morning, or hearing you on the radios telling us where the deer are moving to, but we will not let you down and we will be in the woods hunting opening day this season.
Keep-them in the Ten Ring Brother

Dear Brother,
Although we haven't spoken or seen each other in a very long time I never stopped loving you or your family. I never thought I wouldn't get the chance to tell you that in person.I guess God had other plans.
I feel a very deep loss as I know everyone else does too.
Rest in Peace Brother Richard and keep Dad company and do lots of fishing in Heaven with him.
Hopefully if and when I get to Heaven we will finally have that talk that I should have had long ago.
Your brother

Once again, my deepest condolences to Kathy, Richie Jr, Nicole, Brittany, Aunt Terry, Ronnie/ Bobby and entire Scheriff family.
Cousin Rich, It is the day after your funeral May 15, 2016 and I must say as always you sure did have a great turnout, just as you did in life, you did in death. As always you were a pioneer in everything you did in life and now you are taking to the next level, pioneering into death leading the way for all of us to follow someday. It was a great ride with you for the past 56 years, from the days as kids down in Roxbury, Fishing/Blue Claw Crabbing/Water Skiing celebrating the 4th of July, tending bar at the Mardi Gras platform, countless Thanksgivings & New Year’s by Uncle Walter’s and Gert’s on Long Island. From purchasing our New Harleys together in 1981, endless Duck Hunting trips in Woodmere LI, along with Big Game & Bow Hunting trips for over the last 40 years, along with too many other great times to list. I will always treasure all of the great memories we had together and must say you will really be missed by me, along with many others who you have touched in your much to short lifetime. I know you are looking down on all of us from the Heavens above, and somehow/someway you will guide/watch/protect all of us who are still hear on Earth.
God Bless America, God Bless you and your family, See you in the afterlife,
Your Cousin/Brother/Friend Tom

Scheriff Richie was one of my first pards, when I started Cowboy Action Shooting in 2011. He was a top shooter, I was always awed by his speed. He was a great friend, throughout the years he always encouraged me in my shooting. He was always there, either being RO, shooting, or helping out in some way. I cannot ever remember seeing him sitting down during a match! I will miss him very much. It's a shock that he is gone. But I will always remember him as a great friend and a great shooter.
