Obituary of Ethel Mona Newman

Ethel Mona Newman Bainbridge, NY Ethel Mona Newman, 96, of Bainbridge, passed away early Wednesday morning, March 9, 2016 at Wilson Regional Medical Center in Johnson City. Mona was born on February 26, 1920, daughter of the late Clifford John and Mary Belle (Elliott) Lee in Andes, NY. On August 19, 1955, she was married to Ernest F. Newman, Sr. in Morris. Together, they raised 5 children and shared 43 years of marriage before he predeceased her in September 1998. Mona enjoyed her family, gardening, flowers and her pet cats. She will be dearly missed by: Four daughters and sons-in-law: Yvonne and Phil Sheridan of Oxford; Susan and Larry Yaddow of Guilford; Cindy and William Compton of Otego; and Priscilla and Jeff Dean of Bainbridge Son and daughter-in-law, Ernest, Jr. and Debbie Newman of Bainbridge 11 Grandchildren: Philip Richard Sheridan (wife, Krista), Kevin Donald Sheridan (wife, Hillary), Brian Thomas Sheridan (fiancé, Kari Shaw), Michael Seth Yaddow, Martin Yaddow, Jessica Yaddow, Shannon Yaddow, Christine Deforest (husband, David), Nicki Jones (husband, Matt), Benjamin Newman (girlfriend, Katrina and her daughter, Kadence) and Zachary Newman 9 Great-grandchildren: Philip N., Molly, Ethan, Cora, Logan, Kyla, Brock, Lance and Violet; and four special little boys who knew her as "Grandma Mona": Noah, Bentley, Lucas and Evan. In addition to her husband and parents, Mona was predeceased by her sister, Louise Vail; brother, Clarence Bruce Lee; and cousins-in-law, Thelma Myers and Betty Newman. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Afton.
