Obituary of Cathryn Lou Shepler

Cathryn L. Shepler Otego, NY Mrs. Cathryn L. Shepler, 69, of 362 Flax Island Road, Otego, died Thursday, September 4 at Albany Medical Hospital. Her husband and sons were by her side. Cathy was born September 23, 1944 in Sidney, NY, the daughter of Ralph and Marjorie (Curtis) Holt. She was married to Eric Shepler, who survives, on July 21, 1984 at their home in East Guilford. Cathy graduated from Sidney High School in 1962. She later graduated from college in Minneapolis, MN. She worked at the Mount Upton Elementary School when her boys were young, and later worked at Amphenol in Sidney. She and her husband moved to New Hampshire in 1996 where she was employed as a medical transcriptionist. Later, after returning to New York, she worked at Fox Memorial Hospital until her retirement in 2006. During this time, she and her beloved dogs volunteered in the Therapy Dog reading program at Gilbertsville-Mt. Upton Central School. Along with her husband, left to cherish Cathy's memory are her two sons and their wives, Brian and Lorene Weidman and Christopher and Wendy Weidman, two step-daughters, Renee McKown and Tracy Davis; her grandchildren Nicolas Weidman, Nicole Bair, Emma McKown, and Solomon and Jordan Davis; her brother Gregory (Gretchen) Holt: sisters Carolyn (Michael) Martin, Celeste Holt, and Cheryl Holt; and her "four-legged boys", Willie and Opie. Calling hours will be held at the C.H. Landers Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney, on Wednesday, September 10, from 3:00 to 6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a local no-kill animal shelter or rescue of your choice. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family online at www.landersfh.com.
