Bill gave me my real chance to pitch softball for the Golden Valley Sports Camp Softball Team way back when, and what a great time that turned out to be. Bill belived in me and something I will cherish the rest of my life. I was lucky to be able to tell him, that he played such a huge part of who I am today. To the Ray family, I'm so sorry for your loss but want you to know that he touched peoples life and as a non family member, he touched my life more then people could ever know. Rest in peace Bill, Thank you for making me the man I am today and when you get to Heaven tonight, God has his field being worked on, and start building your team, we will see you someday soon my friend.

It's very rare in this day and age to find some one who impacts so many lives out of the goodness of their heart. Bill has coached hundreds of little league boys gave of his times and own finances to make sure that they had some where to play baseball for close to forty years. Gone but never forgotten. RIP Bill.

Where do you start with Bill Ray? As the Moose coach..Rec Department for countless years...Softball organizer, groundskeeper, coach and even player...bowler..father and grandfather, brother and husband...those are the general descriptions and everyone can fill in the gaps a different and unique way. Personally, he was a great advocate of school and youth sports. As Insaid on my radio pre-game on the day he passed, the school bleachers were a little emptier and a lot quieter. And Bill Ray Field has extra special meaning. RIP Bill.

Bill was not only a dear friend, fellow Brooklynite, but as a kid growing up he was also a mentor to me. When he organized a baseball , softball, football or basketball game, even though I was a few years younger then the other guys on the teams, he always made sure I got to play. After high school I got to play with him on his league softball team, and his bowling team for over 25 years. So many good memories. My sympathy and prayers to Diane and family.

Bill had always been the real "cheerleader" relative to all of the Sidney sports programs, whether they be the Moose Lodge teams or the scholastic sports teams at Sidney High School. His quiet "hollering" and "cheering" will be missed throughout Sidney. I worked with Bill's son, Scotty, as a cross country runner and Bill was very supportive back in the 1980s as well. May the Lord be with Bill and his entire family and "extended family" in Sidney during this most difficult time........

Bill was a very special man. I've known him for a very long time in the role of Moose/Little League coach. We butted heads a few times when he's come to the Walton Tournament, but in the end it was all good. He has been a great friend, role model and mentor for many youth. He will be missed!

I would like to give my condolences to the whole family. Bill gave me some of the best advice I have ever heard, he said "To keep my chin up, never to give up, and figure out what you want to do in life", that's just the kind of guy Bill was. This is a real loss to the community of Sidney, Rest in Peace Bill..
