R.I.P Joe! Tears stream down my face just thinking about this. Still cannot believe this. You were like having another big brother. We were close and I always enjoyed the boat rides. Thought someday we would meet up again and talk about old times but distance and schedules never allowed that. I am glad that you had found happiness with Nancy and now will be watching over her from above. Give your dad a hug and a kiss from me. Love you both.

The first time I remember seeing you was at my grandmothers, I told her shortly after that I was going to marry you! She told me since we were cousins that was not a good idea, it broke my heart. It has been at least 50 years and I never forgot.Sorry to say I did not see much of you because of the age difference, but when you were in the VA hospital I wrote cause Gran thought it would cheer you up. You were always kind to me and answered all my letters. Sorry we lost touch over the years as we know life gets in the way. May the fish always be biting! And know you will never be forgotten!

I knew Joe as Short Round. We were in the army together at Fort Benning. We had many good times together, smoking parties and many get together. We both survived the wounds of the Vietnam War and remained good friends for years. I miss him. Love to the family from Sergeant Bill.

Just learned about Joe's death. My wife, Mary, and I are stunned. We only knew Joe for a few months - bought a house through his realtor-wife, Nancy. What a breath of fresh air Joe was. Personable. A straight-shooter. Great sense of humor. We will miss him.
