Obituary of Steven M. Place

Steven Place Bainbridge, NY Steven Mark Place, 56, of Bainbridge, New York, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 24th, 2013 at the Wilson Memorial Hospital. Born in Sidney, New York on October 25th, 1956 to Donald and Betty Place, he graduated from Sidney High School and later from Delhi Community College. He married Rebecca Fontanez, of Sidney, in 1984. Steve was a passionate man who enjoyed being outdoors. After spending five years working for a local building contractor, Conrad Schlafer, he worked as an Electrical Field Planner for NYSEG. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, canoeing and woodworking. He built his own home and was always there to help friends with household projects, or whatever else they needed him for. Steve is survived by his loving wife Becky of 29 years. He was a loving father and proud of his three children, Matthew Place and his wife Leksie along with their children (Caleb, Kelsie and Kaitlyn), of Lebanon, NJ; Stephanie Staton and her husband Nate along with their children (Malia and Titus), of Rock Hill, SC; and Sarah Place, of Bainbridge, NY. He is also survived by his parents, Robert and Betty Hunt, of Sidney; his in-laws, Daniel and Shirley Fontanez of Bremerton, WA; his brother Charles Place and his wife Sherry, of Oneonta, NY; his brother John Place and his wife Cheryl, of Deposit, NY; as well as his many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. The family will receive friends for calling hours on Wednesday, October 30th from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and the service will be Thursday, October 31st at 11:00 AM. Both will take place at the C.H.
