Fred was such an intelligent, kind and interesting man. I remember him fondly as a SCHS classmate from the class of 1963 and as a friend reconnecting after our 40th reunion. My deepest condolences to Bob, Sue and all the family. We are lessened by his passing.

I remember Fred as a fellow classmate of the class of '63. He was short, like me, and we would joke about that. I pray for strength & peace for the whole family. He is missed by all.

Fred (as a member of the Class of '63, I always knew him as Freddy) was such a super fellow in so many ways. I don't think the guy ever had a bad word to say about anyone. He was all kindness. Please accept my sincerest condolences on your great loss...a loss for all of us.

Please accept my deepest condolences on the recent passing of our fellow '63 classmate. It was great to see Fred at our 40th reunion and reminisce about the good old days in Sidney. Fred and I were also active in Boy Scouts and spent several summers at Crumhorn Scout Camp together. He was a wonderful friend and classmate who will be deeply missed.

Fred was many things and led a life full of adventure. He was one of five of the Sidney High School class of 1963 who chose to live in Arizona. He was a Boy Scout, Soldier, Naturalist and Ham Radio operator and among his many accomplishments he was a friend and he will be missed. God speed my friend we will see on the other side when God brings us all home.

I met Fred just before he went overseas. We hung around the bird collection together. Fred came back from Nam wounded in many ways. I liked him very much, but I wasn't the one for him. Had I known he was living practically down the road from me until only 10 years ago, I would have rung his doorbell and apologized in person for the incident that caused him to drop me from his life in 1971. It's bothered me all this time. I'm happy to see he went on with his life, which looked good on paper but certainly had its share of sorrow. Fred was a great guy who didn't suffer fools lightly. He was a fine soldier -- I heard he earned a battlefield commission -- but he was bitter towards superior officers who cared more about the length of his hair than the quality of his leadership. Fred is finally free from pain and at ease. May he rest in peace; amen.

I first met Fred at Henderson Scout Reservation when he was Fishing Director and I was next door as Archery Director. Being an avid Radio Ham, Fred was always chastizing me about my radio procedures. There are many fon memories of Fred at Henderson which I shall always cherish as I will Fred's memory.
Rest easy my friend, you've earned it and are now at piece.

Fred was a dear friend on San Juan Island. We had so much fun from the mid 1970 's thru mid 1980's. My brother Cameron Avery and husband Dick Barnes owned and operated Snug Harbor where we all befriended Fred. He was an amazing man with many talents. Fred eventually married into the family. It didn't last but we shared many joys and pains together. Even after Fred
left and went back to New York we stayed in touch and saw each other several times. Fred's dear friend Dick died just two weeks before him. I know they are both at peace and enjoying each others company again. I loved you both. I will miss your annual newsletter Fred.
