Obituary of Alvin A. Meres

Alvin A. Meres, Sr. Bainbridge, NY Alvin A. Meres, Sr. 86 of Bainbridge passed away peacefully Saturday, August 17, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born September 9, 1926, son of the late Fred and Susan (Cook) Meres in Walton. Alvin served his country in the United States Army from 1945 to 1947. He married Ina Reynolds on July 5, 1947 in the Sidney Center Methodist Church. Alvin and Ina owned and operated the family farm until1966 when they sold it to go to work . He then worked for Lloyds Lumber Co. in Sidney as a foreman for many years, retiring in 1985. Alvin is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ina Meres, Bainbridge 4 daughters, Connie Hemphill, Minnesota Catherine and Laurence Darlin, Crossville, TN Jennie Noyes and Brian Ross, Sherburne Peggy Ann Meres, Richfield Springs 3 Sons - William Meres, Bainbridge Jerry Meres, Oneonta Alvin and Wilma Meres, Jr. Covenington, LA 12 Grandchildren, 24 Great Grandchildren, 5 Great, Great Grandchildren Sister, Dorothy Shaw, Sidney And several nieces, nephews and cousins He was also predeceased by Daughter, Susan Meres, Great, Grandson, Geofrey Powell, Great Granddaughter Baby Girl Smith, 3 brothers Angie, Willburt and Gilbert and a Sister, Mary. Friends may call Wednesday August 21, 2013 from 6-8 PM at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel 21 Main St. Sidney. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 22, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the funeral chapel with Rev. Benjamin Shaw officiating.
