Doug Jr and Family;
We are thinking of you and your family. We send our deepest sympathy regarding the loss of your grandmother. I hope it helps the pain to know that God needed one more to fill the empty space, he looked around the hospital and saw your sweet Grandmothers face, when she stopped breathing, you knew she was gone and was at peace. She has gone home. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves a memory no one can steal. ~Irish Proverb~

She was the best aunt a niece could ever want, a fountain of unconditional love, support, wisdom, strength and tenderness. We shared many road trips between Upstate NY and the Jersey Shore, talking and laughing and understanding each other totally through every mile. If it weren't for her strength, love and very practical help, I don't know how my sisters and I could have coped with our Mom's open-heart surgery on the heels of our Dad's major stroke. I miss you, Aunt Ev, and I'll always love you more than words can say.

My Mom, Catherine, and Aunt Ev spent untold times creating memories together as sisters... a cross-country Amtrack trip with their husbands, a cruise to Bermuda, dancing at our parents' 50th wedding party like they were kids again! Their laughter was a joy when they were together...every year at the Jersey Shore (adding limes to their gin and tonics so they wouldn' t get scurvy)...smiles wide and hair blowing on the boat at the lake...making dinners together for those hungry 8 daughters between them (her macaroni salad was a MUST)...shopping in NJ only to find they had bought the exact same pair of shoes. They loved each other as we loved them. Aunt Ev, I will miss you and your deep conversations about life and family. You were a jewel! Elaine

Dear Barb and Doug, Debbie and Renee and Bruce and families
I am so sorry to hear of your mom's passing. Some of my earliest memories of living in Sidney, and most of my growing up memories in Sidney are of you all and your wonderful family. Your Mom and Dad were wonderful people, and they raised 4 beautiful daughters. I cherish the memories of my "Older sisters and friends" doing the "stroll and Mashed Potato" in our living room, putting make up on all of us and doing our hair into Beehives. Can never forget our singing along with Maxine. Mrs. Morlano, a beautiful star is lighting up the sky tonight. Sending love and hugs. Helen Oglesby Russ

Knew Evelyn for more than 45 years.I have known countless people in my personal,social,and business life and can count on the fingers of one hand the people who were so pure that they stood head and shoulders above the rest.Evelyn was one of those.She always made me feel special and had the most beautiful smile.Never wanted to be the center of attention but radiated a caring,loving,and accepting attitude that caused people to admire her.She was the perfect compliment to her husband John.We have lost a remarkable lady.Rest in peace my dear.

My Aunt Ev has been a spiritual mentor for me throughout my life. Years ago we were sitting on the beach at the Jersey shore (something that she and my mother "loved" to do). As we looked out over the ocean she said "You know, Margy, I believe there is a huge mirror out there in the universe and everything you say and everything you do, comes back at you a hundred fold." Very succinct and very profound words of wisdom, that I have never forgotten.
Auntie was trained in Reiki ("God Energy", a spiritual healing) after my Uncle John died. She performed Reiki on my right knee after an injury and the pain went. I enjoy Reiki and helping others by sharing God's healing energy as well.
So, she truly was a Godmother to me throughout my life. While I shall miss her, I am thankful for the lifelong gifts that she has given me. Love, Margy
