It has been my honor to work side by side with Sharon for over 17 years. She held our kids in the palm of her hand and looked after each and every one of them. She helped teach regular classes as well as important life lessons. Every Friday in a large gathering, she would sing songs about our country and history. She even taught them songs she wrote herself. Her very special "Happy Birthday" and "Second Grade" song will echo in our halls for a very long time. She reminded our children how to treat each other and how to move mountains. She worked daily after school even when she wasn't being paid to make sure those couple of kids who had nobody, had her full attention. She was an angel sent to Sidney to make a difference. I for one will think of her in my actions moving forward. God blessed us with Sharon, and I am sure he is welcoming her with open arms now.

One of the supposedly minuscule parts of going through Sidney Central School is learning the school's Alma Mater. Since it was written in 1927, the tune is actually from a fight song and sounds best when played by band instruments, not sung. However, Sharon had a "way" to get her kids excited about singing it. As chairman of the Alumni Sports Hall of Fame, I was impressed to no end when we added Sharon & her kids to the halftime ceremonies singing the Ala Mater with zest and genuine love for their school. People who knew Sharon knew whatever she did for the kids she did with the same gusto. I felt this example needed to be shared. To the Bailey family my sincere sympathy. Her suffering is now done and she can lead the best group of singers ever - the Heavenly Choir.

I remember when Sharon was about one, she & Elizabeth stayed with me when Doug was born. She liked to get the ice out of my drink to eat.
When they were older they played cowboys. She had her pistol and holster.
She was the entertainment at family get togethers in Alabama. She got everyone to singing.
I love you all.

Sharon was one of my dearest cousins and a spiritual inspiration to me all of my life. I would spend a week with the family in the summers. I always felt very welcome by all of them. She would play the guitar and teach me to sing. The main song was " Leaving on a Jet Plane". The last time I remember seeing her, she was at my house. She walked with me on my trail in the woods. She loved walking in the woods that day.
I feel very close to all of you even though we are miles apart. I love you all!!

I am so sorry for your loss. Sharon was such a special person that touched so many people's lives. She had a knack for finding the best in everyone, no matter how bad they were. Unfortunately, our children have lost a person that would have taken each and everyone of our little lost souls home and raise them as her own.

I had the pleasure and honor of working with Sharon for many years. Sharon was all about the children. I learned a lot from her. We shared a lot of laughs and made a lot of memories at our summer lunch get togethers at the Afton Grill. I will miss her very much. The children of Sidney have lost a wonderful teacher, and we have lost a wonderful friend. My thoughts and prayers are with Sharon's family.

I read Sharon's obituary with a heavy heart. She was one of the most life-affirming people I ever had the chance to know. That her light, life and, love
should be extinguished much too
early is a loss for those who knew her and those who will never share that blessing. You
are all in my thoughts.

Sharon was the sister that I never had. She was my sister in the Lord, but she took me under her wing at a very early age and created a kinship with me that has survived time and space. She was my best friend during the hard teenage years and she always knew how to help me in whatever situation I found myself. She had gone that way before and she knew the rough spots and pitfalls and she helped make my way smoother. I can attribute my love for music, nature and appreciation for the simple things in life to my having been able to spend time with her. Above all, she showed me by example how to serve the Lord, to reverence Him and His word. This was her core - loving the Lord with all her heart, mind and soul. I am thankful to God that I was blessed by being allowed to be a part of her life, a life lived where her works do follow her, her children rise up and bless her and she is blessed in her death.

As I venture down the halls of SES in the coming weeks, the building will seem amiss without the sound of the speeding wheelchair. I would have to suggest to Sharon on many occasion to watch the speed limit....Her smile, her love of children and the pride she had in her own family and the "family" she nurtured while at Sidney. will be missed. My many years while teaching at Sidney with Sharon on our staff, made not only the children better, but the professional staff as well. My condolences to Larry and her children, of whom, she was always proud of.......Bob Finnegan

Dear Larry and family,
I was so sorry to hear of Sharon's passing. During my five years I worked at Sidney, Sharon was a true friend to me. She was such a fine teacher and inspirational to all she met. I loved her magical way she used to music to delight her second graders and to teach them about social injustice.
My prayers to you.

What a loss for the Sidney community and the school district. Sharon was always supportive of any projects I organized for the high school students. We will long remember the beautiful cakes she made for NHS inductions and her cheerful presence at all kinds of functions. My sincere sympathy to all her family, especially Kathryn and Daniel.

You will remember me as Mary Jo's friend. When you were in Alabama or stopped by her house on you travels, I was privileged to be with her and spend time with all of you. I have very fond memories of those times. I remember Sharon as always having a smile.
In your sorrow, remember, it will be only "a few days" until we see her again..
My love to all.

Sweet memories of my dear cousin. Her faith accmpanied by signs and wonders of kindness and gentleness will always warm my heart. Our childhood memories were all laughter. She always laughed and my jokes and wit. Her loving music will always live in my heart. We share in the families deep loss but it will be her's and heaven's gain.
