I feel that I've not only lost a beautiful friend but also a wonderful "Surrogate" son! We both shared so much enjoyment in hunting and just being in the wilderness. When Allen was young he always reminded me of the boy in the movie "Christmas Story" recieving his first brand new "BB Gun"! We love you and you will be in our hearts FOREVER,

I remember the day you taught me to ride a bike ..it was family picture day . I crashed over a embankment , you picked me up and dusted the dirt off me and told me I did great . Boy mom was pissed with all the dirt and scratches I had on me . Brother I'm sorry that the last words we had were harsh and hurtful. I wish I could just give you a hug and tell you how much I love and miss you . I'm sorry for all your pain and suffering that you were going through and I wasn't there to pick you up and dust you off like you did for me . May you rest in peace . I love you .

I knew Al in school, but most recently have seen him at Guilford school, spending time with his son Nicholas who is in pre-K with my son. What an absolutely kind, patient, and proud father! He was a true gentleman. Iam so sorry for your loss. Heaven surely is a brighter place with him in it!

Allen was one of those guys that always gave you hope, he made you feel like anything was possible. Most of talk about things we would like to do or wish we could change, but Al would do it, he would make it happen he would make contacts, learn the ins and outs and do it. He will truly be missed. JoEllen, let me know if you ever need anything.

Tho I only knew Allen for a handful of years, I feel honored to have been able to call him my friend. He was a stand up guy who couldn't do enough for you. His love of family and friends was second to none. My family was certainly priviledged to have known a man like Allen.
Allen, I'll miss you and will always treasure the time we spent on snowmobiling trips, wing nights and family BBQ's. I'm sorry I didn't make time for one more "guys night out". I hope you're at peace now, I'll see you on the other side someday my friend.

Al was a great friend for many years, I could fill pages of all the good times we've had together. He was a good friend for all these times we shared, but more importantly because he was a good person. He was the type of person that would give the shirt off his back to someone in need, he could bring a smile to anyones face, and he passionately wanted to make a difference in the world.
Unfortunately brother your pain became more than you could handle, I hope you are in a better place now and can be at peace. May your kindness in life be a lesson to everyone to make this world a better place. My heart is with your family as they recover from your loss, you will be missed by many!

HOW do you live your Dash ::
I read to a person who stood to speak. At the funeral of a friend. He referred to the dates on his tombstone From the beginning to the end.He noted that first came his date of birth And spoke the following date with tears,But he said what mattered most of all was the Dash between those years (19_-2013) For the dash represents all the time that he spent on earth...And now ONLY those who LOVED HIM !!Know what that little line is worth. For it matters not,how much we own:The cars..the house..the cash,What matters is how we LIVE and Love, and How we spend our DASH.So think about it long and hard..Are there things you'd like to change? For you never know how much time is left,That can still be rearranged. If we could just slow down enough to consider whats true and real,And always try to understand,The way other people feel. And be less quick to anger,And show appreciation more And love the people in our lives Like we've never loved before. If we treat each other with respect,And more often wear a smile,Remembering that this Special Dash Might only last a little while. So,when your eulogy being read With your life's actions to rehash... Would you be Proud of the things they say About how you spent your Dash?
May the Lord Above guide his family and give them strength. You will be Missed Alan..... Donna and Doug

Allen you meant so much to all our family. You and your family became more than friends you were part of our family.First meeting you when you moved next door many years ago. Neighbors who truly enjoyed spending time together, from hunting, and snowmobiling with Mike and Mikey to cook outs and game nights with the whole family. When your move took you out of state and back we still got together to spend time with one another. Once you became friends with someone they became a lifelong friend.I will truly miss your warm hugs you always greeted with when ever we saw you.I was looking forward to getting together again in April as we had planned only a few days before your passing. The night JoEllen called to tell me of your passing shocked me and my family. We had long talks about living with chronic pain, so sorry that I couldn't help you more with endearing chronic pain on a daily basis. No more pain for you Allen may you enjoy eternal peace with no more suffering.JoEllen I will always be here for you Mary and Nick. Mr Dorak you raised a great son who grew up to be a great man. Allen my great friend until we meet again I know that you will be watching over all your family and friends.

For the past 25 years (or more), Allen has been a part of our family and life. He was there as we shared important events, and fun, happy times...always full of energy and his upbeat personality. We can only begin to get past our shock and grief by remembering the good times with him, and being there for his precious family.
In loving memory, "Mom & Dad" Carlin (Jim and JoAnn)

I am shocked and saddened to learn of your passing, Allen. My heart aches for you and your beautiful family. You were such an honest and kind soul. An individual that always cared for the well being of others, when you endured so much chronic pain yourself. An honest and GOOD man. Those that interacted with you (even through email!) felt your warmth and compassion. Keeping you and yours in prayers and heart.

How do you sum up a life in so small a space? Allen was truly one of a kind, a diamond that shone bright, even in the darkest places. He was good and decent, honest and kind. He was an example of everything a man, father, brother, son and friend should be. He was my cousin, but more than this, he was my friend. Blood brought us together, but friendship kept us close, and his passing leaves a gaping hole in our lives that none will ever fill. Some people come into our lives and stay for a second, and we remember them, barely. Some others come, stay for a while, and we remember them fondly when they leave us. But there are those rare individuals who come into our lives, change it in ways we never thought possible, and we are never, ever the same again. Allen was that person, and our lives are richer for having known and loved him. Rest easy, Allen. I love you.
