Obituary of Barbara Ann Gorsira

Barbara Ann Gorsira, age 75, of Culpeper, VA, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2013, at her residence. Barbara was born January 3, 1938, in Queens, NY, to Nelson and Frieda Hauber Swart. Barbara worked at the Gilbertsville Central School for many years in the office, then became the office manager for Dr. Wilfred Gorsira. Upon their retirement, they moved to Culpeper, VA where they enjoyed sitting on their deck watching the birds and completing cross word puzzles. Barbara took great pleasure in passing on her joy of cooking to her grandchildren. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting, playing the piano and singing. Surviving Barbara is her daughter, Kim Gorman, husband David and their children Marie and Christopher of Hollidaysburg, PA; Wilfred's children Bryan Gorsira, wife Amy and their children, Connor and Lindsey of Warrenton, VA, Dian Gorsira of Tampa, FL, and Michael Gorsira and his wife Rebecca of Broadalbin, NY; two sisters Frieda Palmer of Oneonta, NY and Madelyn Gilbert of Gilbertsville, NY; and numerous nieces, nephews and their families. She is predeceased by her parents, her husband, Wilfred Gorsira, and two brothers Edward and Robert Swart. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 21 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Gilbertsville, NY. Calling hours will be held at the church an hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place in the spring. A small service will be held in Culpeper at a later date.
