I was saddened to learn that Fran is no longer with us, but am grateful for the opportunity to meet and know him. We met when he served on the BOCES Board of Education of which I am Board Clerk. His service on the BOCES and Afton Boards of Education and as an educator spanned over fifty years. He left a huge impact on both the educational community and the community at large and will be greatly missed by many. I was fortunate to be able to visit Fran as a resident at the NYS Veteran's Home since his room was near my mother had who also lived there. I will keep his family in my thoughts and prayers and be assured that with time your sorrow will be replaced with many happy memories. Jo Ann Winsor

I remember Mr Sullivan as always being easy going and putting up with a lot in Driver's ed class. He was so patient. He will be missed by many. My condolences to the family. Joan Hacker

I remember him as a gentle, powerful man. He said much in a few words. I recall one time in particular when I sat in his office when he was Principle. He listened to what I had to say. I treated Fran and Ginny at the dental office for many years. I was always happy to see them come in! They were such a lovely couple, and so devoted to each other, and to their family. I always heard about their kids and grandkids. They were so proud of you all. My thoughts are with you all, as you celebrate the life of this kind, gentle, caring Dad and Grandpa. As I am living in NM, it wasn't until a few days ago I heard of Fran's passing. He was one of my most favorite people and I am of course saddened by his passing. However what a man he was and how many lives he influenced. Mine was one of them. We always had our art in common and Mr. Sullivan would stop in the art room to see what was happening and join me in our mutual interests. I never knew what a musician he was until I read his obituary. Fran Sullivan loved life and all people and we will miss him dearly. What a great guy ! Afton Central was lucky to have him as part of the Afton family.

We had the privilege of living next door to Fran for almost 20 years. He and Ginny were the best neighbors anyone could ask for. Fran always had a smile on his face and greeted us with a big wave whenever we stepped out the door. He was always eager to lend a ladder or help paint our garage doors. The most fond memories will always be with us. It's so comforting to know that he and Ginny are together again, forever! I remember "Sully" for his quiet support and warm wishes for all who crossed his path. His dedication to the Afton Central School District, The Afton Board of Education, the Community of Afton was always obvious and in all the years I knew him, I never ONCE heard him complain. My deepest sympathies to the Sullivan families during your time of sorrow. Mr.Sullivan was quite the practical joker.
I remember after my 18th birthday, Monday at school I called into the principal office(which was Mr. Sullivan's Office). I was told to wait in his office, when he came in he said, "I am surprised to see you here today Miss Hitchcock. I heard you had a heck of a birthday party! Then he wished me happy birthday and sent me back to class!
