Obituary of Mary Basile

Mary Basile Afton, NY Mary Basile, 89, of Afton, passed away on Sunday, November 25, 2012 at Wilson Regional Medical Center in Johnson City. Mary was born on April 19, 1923, daughter of the late Santos and Anna Bellone in Brooklyn. For the past 8 years, Mary has resided in Afton at the Afton Edge Apartments where she had numerous friends. She especially enjoyed her time spent with her close friends, Gail, Marge, Maryanna and Liz, as well as the other girls from Afton Edge. She loved to cook and bake for people. Everyone in the community knew Mary and her little black dog. Mary was a loyal, gracious and thoughtful mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She was particularly known for her tenacity. Mary was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by: Her daughter, Camille Basile Grandchildren: Debra (Nick) Sforza, Lance (Noreen) Catanuto, Nicole (Frank) Catanuto, Peter Basile and Paula Basil Great Grandchildren: Danielle, Jenna, Nicholas, Gabriella and Olivia As well as her beloved puppy, Gigi. Mary was predeceased by her son, Peter. Friends are invited to call on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 from 2:00-4:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main Street Sidney, NY 13838. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Wednesday, November 28th at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 32 South Main St. Bainbridge, NY 13733, with Fr. Darr Schoenhofen as celebrant. Committal will take place on Thursday, November 29th in St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale, Long Island.
