Obituary of Eleanor L. Robertson
Eleanor L. Robertson
Harpursville, NY
Eleanor L. Robertson, 89, of Harpursville, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 2, 2012 at her home. Eleanor was born in Herkimer on March 4, 1923, daughter of the late Adam and Anna (Brendlin) Landfried. She earned her RN from Syracuse Memorial Hospital and worked as a nurse for a time. On August 20, 1943, Eleanor was married to Donald C. Robertson in Herkimer. They shared 47 wonderful years together before Don predeceased her in 1991.
Eleanor worked with her husband for many years at Don's photography studio, Robel Studio in Herkimer: Don took the photographs and Eleanor did the oil coloring. After their children were raised, Eleanor also got her pilot's license so that she could spend more time with Don, who had been a pilot in the military. They used these opportunities to take aerial photos of numerous local businesses for their studio.
Eleanor and Donald had a cottage on Otsego Lake in Cooperstown where their family spent many happy summers. After retirement, they summered on the lake and wintered in Florida. Eleanor was a member of St. Agnes Church in Afton.
Eleanor is survived by:
Four children: Lynne C. Ryan of Suwanne, GA, Donald C. Robertson, Jr. and his wife, Robin of Bainbridge, Douglas W. Robertson, Sr. and his wife, Lucy of Hartwick and Susan M. Robertson of Rome, GA
Six Grandchildren: Heather DeLisle, Adam DeLisle, Aaron Robertson, Christopher Robertson, Bonnie Stueber and Douglas Robertson, Jr.
And four great-grandchildren
In addition to her husband, Eleanor was predeceased by a son, James P. Robertson, a grandson, Ryan DeLisle, son-in-law, Richard Ryan, and two brothers, Julius and Paul Landfried.
