Obituary of Joseph Maurice Trask
Joseph Trask
SIDNEY _ Joseph Maurice Trask of Sidney, passed away on Aug. 27, 2012, at Kindred Hospital in Wilkes Barre, Pa., after a courageous battle due to a long term illness.
Joe can now sit on the porch in Heaven with his mother-in-law, Josephine Fawcett, whom he dearly loved, and meet his father-in-law, Clifford Fawcett, who had long ago gone to Heaven,
Joe was born on April 9, 1938, to the late Rhea (Boyd) Paddleford and Sebe Paddleford. He was predeceased by his brother, Stanley Trask; and his sister, Mary Barnes.
Joe lived in Wells Bridge for many years and was the Chief of the Wells Bridge Fire Department. He spent eight years in the Naval Reserves. He also worked at Scintilla for 30 years, retiring in 1986 at the age of 48, so that he could enjoy his retirement. He then worked at various jobs, including Keith Clark for 10 years. He served as the Governor of The Sidney Moose Lodge and also The Exalted Ruler of the Sidney Elks Lodge.
Joe loved to cook and always took pride in his salads, goulash and chili that he made for many family gatherings. He enjoyed his vegetable garden every year and froze all that he could. He also enjoyed tending his fish pond, babying his two cats, going to casinos, going to yard sales and also to auctions with his brother, Louie.
Joe was proud to have become Catholic and enjoyed going to Mass at St. Agnes Church in Afton.
He was married to Martha Mae (Alger) Trask, deceased; with whom he has three children, son, Jeffrey (Paula and children, Autumn and Jade), son, Timothy (Jessica and children, Sierra and Ian), and daughter, Sherri Cook (children, Brandi and Dakota).
He later married Roberta (Fawcett) Simonds Trask, surviving; and lovingly took on six stepchildren, Scott Simonds, Randy Simonds (children, Matthew and Jaron), Tracy Simonds (children, Patrick and Stephanie, Brian Simonds (Kristy and children, Timothy and Anna), Michael (Chris and children, Thomas, Jessica and Thomas), Wendy Weidman (Chris and son, Nicholas).
Joe is survived by his brother, Louie (Jane) Trask; and his sister, Marge Paddleford.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 2 p.m. in St. Agnes Catholic Church, 14 Spring St., Afton, with Fr. Darr Schoenhofen officiating
