Obituary of Virginia Ashton Bartz

Virginia Ashton Bartz Sidney Center, NY Virginia Frances Ashton Bartz, 86, of Sidney Center, passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Tri-Town Regional Hospital in Sidney. Virginia was born on March 24, 1926, daughter of the late Charles "Frank" and Edna Ashton in Brooklyn. She moved to Vermont during the Depression and lived there for ten years before moving to Sidney Center. On May 13, 1950, Virginia married Ernest Bartz in the Sidney Center Methodist Church. Ginny worked for various local businesses, and she retired from Sidney Central School where she worked for many years. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting, music and many, many years of camping, both with family and as a member of the Leatherstocking Jays Camping Club. Ginny is survived by: Her husband of 62 years, who she lovingly referred to as her "boyfriend", Ernie Bartz Two sons: Daniel (Laura) and grandchildren Ryan (Sarah), Nathan and Justin Tim (Michelle) and grandchildren Jacob, Emily and Naomi Beloved dog, Annie Sister, Hazel Hoy Brother, Dusty Ashton Step-sister, Betty (Stewart) Wilcox As well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Ginny was predeceased by a son, Stephen Bartz, and her brothers-in-law, Jim Bartz and Herb Hoy. Friends are invited to call from 11:00am-1:00pm on Monday, July 23, 2012 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. A memorial service will begin at 1:00pm at the funeral chapel with Pastor William R. Orr officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, Sidney Center.
