We have lost so many business "icons" in recent times. It must be a heckuva Chamber of Commerce in heaven. I see Mr. Bowne as being a successful insurance person while always having time for his family, his church and his community. The times I'd see him on Main Street (after finally retiring) he never failed to ask me about my family. Never. So I thank Gerry Bowne for all he meant to the terrific glory years of Sidney's business district as well as for his unflinching dedication to its people and quality of life. Peace and love to the family.

Marcia & Family,
Prayers are with you at the passing of your Dad. He was a wonderful man and always had a smile when he'd come in for computer or printer repair. He will be missed.

Mr. Bowne made numerous contributions to the growth of Sidney over the years. He was a true gentleman. As was mentioned, he always asked about the family, because he really cared about people. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mrs. Bowne, Doug, Kaima, Heidi, Marcia, brother George and the entire family.

Thoughts and prayers to the Bowne family. The Congregational Church will never be the same. Thank you for great memories at church and at "The Hill" from 1980 when you came up and we were there uninvited (Mrs Kleiner got out of your car with an axe) and you treated us so well, to the Rose family reunion you allowed us to hold there in 2000. I always enjoyed listening to you after church in the fellowship hall whenever I visited back home.

I remember Gerry from my very young time in scouting. We were saddened when he and Bobbi left Walton for Sidney. But, when Barbara and I came to Sidney, there he was, gracious, welcoming and seeing that we got to know the community. He was truly a gentleman, a strong but compassionate leader and a fine family man. Sidney has truly lost one of it's finest. My sympathies go out to his family in their loss.

Marcia, Cameron, Kaima, Edmund, and family...what a sad time. Your father/grandfather was such a special and kind person that brightened everyone's day. I am so sorry for your deep loss. Jerry will be deeply, deeply missed. How lucky we have all been to have been touched by his love and compassion.

I will always remember the cheeriness of Mr. Bowne everytime I walked into Mang and Bowne or encountering his extreamly happy nature running into him on Main Street over the years. But most of all, I remember fondly all the encouragement he gave me when I was preparing for my year as a Rotary Exchange Student to Brazil in 1972. My thoughts and prayers to the family.

While Jerry and I have not been together physically for some time, he is a person I will always remember as an exceptional friend whose attributes I've always admired- humility, authenticity, genuine caring for others, honesty, and a great sense of human. He lived a full and joyful life and I'm glad that he and Bobbie had such a great life together, and that Doug,Kaima, Heidi, and Marcia have been fortunate enough to have such a great dad.
My thoughts are with you all.

Jerry & Barb lived across the street and were special neighbors for many years. Throughout those years our close family relationship was one of a special friendship creating many, many wonderful life time memories. We remember when Jerry began digging the hole that became his family's life long home. One Jerry built all by himself. I remember when Dick Curley and I were playing baseball in the field behind Jerry's house and Dick hit a ball through Jerry's newly built garage window. We thought we were in huge trouble, but all Jerry could talk about was the great hit Dick had. He had no concern about his window. We spent many Sundays together skiing at the small ski area located on the Bainbridge-Green road. Jerry was a wonderful, caring and giving person. Our condolenances to Barb and the family. You will always have a special place in our hearts. Hopefully, he will be reconnecting with mom and dad. The world is a better place because of Jerry. Heaven will be a better place because of Jerry.

I met Mr. Bowne when I was young, shy and Marcia's friend!
He certainly was a cheerful man.I remember him arriving home from work and the Basset hounds were howling their affection for him! Their tails were wagging and their bodies were wiggling. It is a vision I can see even now. I guess they knew he was pretty special too!
I also remember him rushing out the door heading for the slopes! Get out of his way!
Though I haven't seen him for many years, I have thought about him from time to time.
I am thinking of you Mrs. Bowne and family.
It is a hard thing to lose our loved ones after having their presence here for so long.
Kaima helped our family during our transition towards passing with my father. My mother speaks about her help to this day. She was kind and thoughtful, just the way I remember her from years ago!
You all will be in my thoughts.
