I only met Bruce a few times, but he was a good, long time friends of Greg's. I know Greg is very saddened by such a good guy leaving too early. I remember chatting with Bruce and Lorna at the combined reunion at Sacred Heart. Bruce had a great warmth and had been helpful with our son's future plans to be a PT. May he rest with the angels and his memories bring peace to his friends and family.

There is not enough time or space to even begin to share all of my great memories of Bruce...I was his prom date in 1977 and he was the best "guy friend" I ever had. He made us laugh like no one else...great impressions, funny stories, and always a happy, positive presence. One of my fondest memories of Bruce was on the day of his wedding to Lorna...he was happier than I had ever seen him. He loved his wife and children completely and unconditionally. Although his grandchildren will grow up without his physical presence, they will know their grandfather...we will carry the torch and make sure they hear all the stories (OK, maybe not ALL the stories) about the grand person he truly was. All the unselfish things he did for others; the sacrifices he made to do the right thing; the laughter he created in all of us. Rest in peace my friend...we love you and will never let them forget who you were. We love you Lorna, Kristin and Brett...I hope your memories will continue to comfort you as we share them with you in the coming days...Love y'all...T

How does one begin to convey the jumbled thoughts through weepy eyes and unreliable fingers on the keyboard? As Bruce might suggest - hey just go for it. This lifelong friend of mine is going to be missed. It does not matter that we were not constant companions past high school. What mattered was we were close friends whenever we DID see each other. Laughing was a given. Memories flowed freely. Bruce did so much for so many and, as I mentioned in my FB comment, made it always look so easy. I sincerely hope that we all remember Bruce for his wit, wisdom and warmth. And since we're on the letter 'w', how in the world did Bruce keep his middle name a secret from me? My dad called him "Bruiser", I sometimes called him "Hoyt". But in the final description, I'll always call him "friend". Lorna and family, my love and sympathies to you all. I will never meet another man as special as Bruce, guaranteed.

I interned under Bruce at Bassett and after my college graduation was offered a temp position within his department. I learned a lot from him and laughed a lot with him. He made work fun. He was an excellent reference provider for me and continued to check in on me with each job I've held. Bruce, hands down, was the best boss I've ever worked for and is someone I aspire to be like. I have nothing but fond memories of him: flowers for the office ladies because it was Tuesday, name that song, dumb joke of the day, triple-sow-cow plaque in the stairwell for his ever so graceful fall, organized chaos in his office, the many SHRM white papers he shared, and his shoeless office attire. He was dubbed the Director of Fun for a reason. My condolences go to his family and his colleagues at Bassett. He will be truly missed.

Bruce, you left a mark on all of us. Your loving and caring ways will continue to shine on through your beautiful family and the countless people whose lives you have touched- even those who you may have never met. Your dash was all too short, but your spirit, your smile, and your love will always be with us. See you on the other side.

Lorna, Kristen, Brett & Family- My love & prayers are offered to you at this time. How quickly a lifetime passes. It seems like only a short while ago when Bruce and I were recruiting RN's at health fairs. Bruce was a wonderful family man who lived from his heart. He touched so many lives and will be deeply missed. Surely, his great works will continue from the "other side." And surely he is surrounded by his angels singing praises of, "Job well done!" Blessed be, Bruce . . .

We too were the beneficiaries of Bruce's wit and enjoyed so many laughs with him and Lorna. There was no one else who could mimic the pre-batting routine of Rod Carew or Carl Yastremski as he did outside a sports bar in DC at Tracey's wedding. We shall treasure all of the time we had with Bruce. May God bless him in heaven. We sure feel lucky to have had him as our friend.

My condolences go out to you. I am a better person for having known Bruce. Bruce hired me and stood by me throughout my career. He was always willing to help in anyway and always with a smile in his voice and a joke to make even a serious subject more pleasant. He will be greatly missed.
Heaven received a great new angel.

I worked with Bruce for 12 years, as I am one of the benefit representatives for the Bassett employees. Bruce is one of the most honest, sincere, straight forward indivduals I will ever meet. He was always looking out for those he was responsible. When he extended his hand for a shake that was better than any written contract. He is one that was not afraid to stand behind his decisions. I will miss our correspondence, his jokes, and good will.

I played basketball with and against Bruce for many years. He was a fierce competitor but always a gentleman. His 3 point shooting beat my team a number of times, and we usually ended up guarding each other. He will be missed by everyone he came into contact with. He was a man of great character, and if you were fotunate enough to be called his friend, it was a lifelong honor. He and the family will be in our thoughts and prayers.

My condolences to Lorna and the entire Wilhelm family. Bruce was one of the good guys -- warm, honest and caring. He was a strong leader admired by all who had the privilege to know him. During his time at Bassett, Bruce affected change that positively impacted the lives of many. He was passionate in his beliefs, gracious in the face of discord and determined to make things right. Thank you for sharing him. I will always remember him -- with a smile on my face.
