Obituary of Barbara Louise Loitsch

Barbara L. Loitsch, aged 90 died April 26, 2023 at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown. Born on June 11, 1932 in Stamford she was the only child of Harold and Henrietta Rushmore. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Robert Loitsch and her daughter, Melissa Jones. A graduate of Hartwick College, she trained hundreds of students in piano, organ and voice throughout her over 60 year career. Barbara also served as organist and choir director in many churches of many denominations throughout that time period. She was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church in Oneonta and served as choir director. A published writer of many magazine articles, and hundreds of newspaper commentaries through the years, as well as numerous religious plays that were produced. Barbara always shied away from any notoriety and, in her words, any "hoop-la". She often said "All I want in my epitaph is "That's all she wrote." According to her wishes there will be no public services. Those wishing to remember Barbara are encouraged to plant a tree, support a church, donate to the National Wildlife Federation or above all, be kind to one another.
