My sister, Anita, just informed me about Tom’s passing and I am very saddened. My deepest sympathy goes out to the McElligott family. I have the fondest memories of growing up near the McElligott family and having had the pleasure to get to know Tom, almost as one of the family. My thoughts and prayers to you all.

Sincere condolences to all members of the McElligott family. We are truly sorry for the loss of your son, brother, father, and grandfather. Our family lived and grew up alongside this family in the early 1960’s, as well. Rest in peace, Tom.

Tom - he followed his passion though with some resistance, to build a boxing club. I was fortunate to be at "ringside" in the early years. His shrewd navigation and persistency offered many opportunities and exposure beyond the golden valley hills and tree lines. His role as a teacher and a mentor went way beyond boxing. I followed the boxing club through newspaper articles though it has been years since being in communication - Tom, along with a sibling or two, were vessels - vessels rooting out who we were rather than what we conformed to. To his family, which sounds like it has become its own bursting population ( a blessing for all) - Tom will be a bright light among the stars in the sky - he gave area youth avenues of growth. So so sorry to hear of his passing.

May the fond memories that Tom’s family hold of him, comfort them now and in the days ahead. We lived near them growing up, and Mary and I shared many play dates as little ones. I remember Tom as the brother who loved boxing.

Sincere condolences to the McElligott family. My family lived next door to the McElligotts in the early 1960’s. Lifelong friendships were formed at that time. Another connection I hold dear, our family dog was a pup from a litter of the McElligotts dog. My thoughts are with you all. Blessings, Kathy Dombrowski Donadio
