Obituary of Beth A. Brown
BETH BROWN passed away peacefully with her family holding her hand at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown on June 27. She was born November 28, 1959, the daughter of Shirley and Benjamin Jaquish of Ilion, NY. Predeceased by her mother in her early years, Beth was also raised by Doris and Erwin Burlison of Bainbridge, NY.
Beth was a graduate of Sidney High School, and earned cosmetology certification from the BOCES campus. After completing school, Beth married Donald Brown of Bainbridge in September of 1980. The two raised a loving family, having three sons; William Brown and Crystal Brown of Afton, Christopher Brown and Tracie of Bainbridge, and Chad and Sierra Brown of Guilford. She adored her grandchildren, Jared, Hunter, Finley and Griffen, as well as the dozens of children she would babysit over the years. Beth also had a brother, Benjamin Fogarty and two sisters, Sandi Tubia and Anita Jones. Beth was predeceased by her husband, Donald Brown as well as by her parents.
Beth loved babysitting and was known as Grandma Beth to many young children she would watch over. She charged very little, but gave her entire heart to the kids she watched. Most times she would spend more money on birthday and Christmas gifts for the children than she ever brought in from babysitting. Beth enjoyed helping out with the family auction business, and spent countless hours refinishing antique furniture. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed watching wildlife. Her delicious home cooked meals will be missed by her family and those that had the opportunity to join her for a nice dinner.
The family would also like to express their appreciation to Steve, Beth's driver to and from Oneonta over the past two and a half years for her dialysis treatments, as well as all the caring medical staff at the Oneonta and Cooperstown medical facilities.
No services are planned at this time. A graveside service for both Beth and Donald will be held in the near future. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Bainbridge Fire Department in Beth's memory would be appreciated.
A Memorial Tree was planted for Beth
